Michael Elliott is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Towson University (Maryland) and is currently working on a project about the sacred dimensions of fan communities and gathering survey data from comic-con conventioneers in the United States. He has published on the global expansion of human rights, world heritage, and comic-cons, as well as the development of monastic beer brewing in the Middle Ages and its connection to modern craft beer. Dr. Elliott received his Ph.D. in sociology from Emory University in 2008.
